About Me

I’m a chaser of life.

Based out of North Carolina, I’ve been writing professionally for ten years now. It’s a job I love, in all of its solitary jolity and collaborative fervor.

I have written on a wide variety of topics because I have a wide variety of interests. From competitive martial arts to politics, parenting to civil rights, tattoo equipment to SEO. Long form content is my bread and butter for the past several years, having worked extensively as a ghost writer for clients who want to make their dream of being an author a reality.

Before becoming a writer, I taught middle school special education. Before that I worked in marketing. My undergraduate degree is in Women’s Health from UNC Asheville, and that liberal arts foundation gave me perspective on what it means to live in a world and create change for the better. I got my Masters degree in Teaching at Western Carolina a few years later, driven from their MBA program to work that I found to be more meaningful. To this day I miss teaching, and having been there I admire the work of public school teachers.

Along the way I brought four perfectly wonderful children into the world – Yeats, Jude, Hermione, and Virgil.

After my first year in the PhD in Clinical Psychology program at Fielding Graduate University, I lost my three year old daughter Hermione to epilepsy. It’s then that I decided to pull back to focus on writing and raising her three brothers. It’s a choice I’ve never regretted, though I do plan to get back to that doctorate sooner rather than later.

My interests vary from martial arts, where I’m an underbelt champion in women’s sparring, to social justice, where I volunteer with local political campaigns to make real change in my community. The performing arts are constantly a source of inspiration for me, as I got my start in theatre and instrumental music. My boys and I sing show tunes constantly! As a single mom, I share my life and my work with these incredible children. My older two are passionate writers themselves, and the little guy is a vibrant storyteller as well.

I’m always, always interested in connecting with interesting people to do interesting things. While writing is my living, life is my passion.
